How Can severe Chronic Cough Be Treated?

Hi -
I have had a chronic cough for 10 months now and none of the doctors I went to
can figure out why. I saw the following specialists. ENT, Allergist, gastroenterologist and my primary care doctor. What should I do next? This cough is so severe that I can't get a good night's sleep and it prevents me from looking for a job. I am desperate at this point. Please give me some advice. Thank you.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Chronic cough could be due to chronic bronchitis, GERD, COPD.
I would suggest to consult pulmonologist and undergo Pulmonary function test to confirm the cause.
Meanwhile you can take following advises:
Cough out the mucus or phlegm: use mucolytic syrup containing ambroxol and tablet containing acetylcysteine
Drink plenty of lukewarm water
Salt water gargle
Eucalyptus oil in steamy water (Hold your head over a bowl of steamy water and cover with a towel and inhale the vapor)
Avoid dairy products
Drink hot tea with honey
Use a humidifier in your room
Avoid chemical cleaners and stay away from irritants like paint fumes or molds
Quit smoking of you are taking
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
